Each procedure is comprised of one or more tasks. Tasks come in two forms: automated tasks and manual tasks. Automated tasks connect directly to technology to acquire the required information (such as databases or Windows systems) whereas manual tasks utilize surveys to collect the information from appropriate people (such as process owners or data custodians). |
A task can be as simple as connecting to a system and collecting some pieces of information or as complex as connecting to multiple systems, combining and transforming multiple sets of information, and pushing the results to other system or application for further processing, analysis, or reporting.
